The wait is over. On June 5, 2026, Evanescence released Sanctuary, their sixth studio album and one of the most talked-about comebacks in alternative rock this year. In the following lines we review the album’s key points, its different editions and the live plans of the lineup fronted by Amy Lee.

A long-awaited comeback

The new effort represents the band’s first full-length release since The Bitter Truth, issued in 2021. According to Amy Lee herself, the creative process stretched over more than three years, a period that, she admitted, was worth every second of work. Sanctuary thus joins the catalog as the group’s sixth studio album and once again leans on the traits that made them recognizable worldwide: intense moods, dramatic string arrangements and the unmistakable voice of their singer, able to move between fragility and power within a single track.

Twelve songs and a first preview

The track listing gathers twelve compositions, introduced to audiences through the single Who Will You Follow, which served as the project’s calling card. The selection includes cuts such as Beautiful Lie, Tell Me When You’ve Had Enough, Rapture, Afterlife, the title track Sanctuary and the closer Wide Open Heart. The set proposes an emotional journey that alternates introspective moments with more energetic outbursts, a formula the band has refined throughout its career and one that its followers recognize instantly.

Multiple editions for fans

With its most loyal followers in mind, the release arrived in several formats: digital download, standard CD, a deluxe compact disc version and a limited-run collector’s box set with additional material. Those who prefer the analog sound of vinyl will need a little more patience, since the double LP will be distributed on September 4, 2026. This variety of presentations reflects an increasingly common trend in the industry, where the physical format is regaining prominence as a collectible object.

Touring the world

The album’s debut comes with a world tour. The North American leg will unfold during June and will feature Spiritbox and Nova Twins as guests, a combination designed to connect with the genre’s heavier audience. The band had already previewed part of this new phase at the Sick New World festival, held in Las Vegas on April 25, 2026, where it performed some of the songs that now make up the record before thousands of attendees.
