Chilean band Insurgentes Sur is back on the road this August, resuming the tour it had postponed throughout 2025 to play its album “Demasiado Distinto” live — in what the group calls its first fully self-managed tour.

A comeback that took its time

The original plan called for a run of shows in 2025, but the band chose to postpone it. That pause ended this August, when Insurgentes Sur confirmed the first leg of its 2026 tour: things kicked off on August 6 at Club Subterráneo in Santiago, with Crettino as opening act. Eight days later, on August 14, the tour reached Talca’s traditional Liverpool Bar, this time sharing the bill with veteran act Bbs Paranoicos.

Concepción, and a date the weather forced to move

The first leg wraps up on September 5 at Casa de Salud in Concepción, set to start at 10 p.m., with Kuervos del Sur joining as special guests. The La Serena show, meanwhile, had to be rescheduled due to a weather event — a reminder of how unpredictable it can be to run a tour without a major promoter behind it.

What’s next: heading south

Once this first run of shows wraps, Insurgentes Sur is already lining up a second leg aimed at southern cities: Temuco, Pucón, Valdivia and Puerto Montt are among the stops the band plans to add to the “Demasiado Distinto” route in the coming weeks. The self-managed model, increasingly common among emerging Chilean bands, lets them decide on dates, guests and venues without intermediaries — though it also means absorbing surprises directly, as the La Serena reschedule made clear.

A local scene, woven together

Beyond the calendar, the tour doubles as a showcase for Chile’s underground scene: Crettino, Bbs Paranoicos and Kuervos del Sur, each with its own path through the independent circuit, now share stages with Insurgentes Sur across different cities. These kinds of crossovers, common in self-managed circuits, help keep alive a network of bands and audiences that doesn’t always find room on big festival lineups.
