Los Tres Sell Out Two Santander Arena Nights to Mark 30 Years of Their Unplugged

Two nights, two sold-out shows and thirty years of history: Los Tres will celebrate the anniversary of their celebrated Unplugged on November 14 and 15 at the Santander Arena. Here is how the event came together and who will open the shows.

One sell-out after another

The first show sold out in record time, local media reported in late September. Given that demand, the band added a second date for Sunday the 15th, which also ran out of tickets. Both nights now carry the sold-out sign, according to the producer.

Before sales even opened, the group had already stirred up the city with a surprise appearance at Santiago’s Baquedano metro station, which drew hundreds of people. A fitting preview of the excitement around this reunion with one of their best-loved records.

The album that changed their story

The record was taped for MTV on September 14, 1995, in Miami and released in 1996. Rather than hardening their sound, the band did the opposite: they turned the volume down and opened the door to cueca, bolero, jazz and Chilean folk roots, blended with their usual rock. That fusion turned the album into a turning point that carried the band’s name to an international audience and left songs that people still sing by heart across the country.

An unexpected opener from the UK

The surprise on the bill is John Denton, a 16-year-old British artist who became known online for singing «Un Amor Violento», one of the band’s signature songs, in English. His version caught the attention of the media and of Álvaro Henríquez himself, and he will now take the stage to open both nights. It is a charming gesture that shows how Chilean music keeps crossing borders and generations.

Why it matters for the local scene

A mid-1990s album filling one of Santiago’s biggest venues twice speaks to the staying power of Chilean rock and to an audience that keeps renewing itself: some lived the original release, while younger fans discovered it decades later. For those who missed out on tickets, there is always the repertoire to revisit and the national scene to follow closely.
